In addition to training courses for pilots or helicopter pilots, the Higher School of Civil Aviation also offers courses for air traffic controllers (CTA Basic Course).

This program provides students with general information about the responsibilities of air traffic controllers and the entire air traffic management system. There is no college for air traffic controllers!

Criteria for enrollment in the air traffic controller course

Registration requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a high school graduate with a high school diploma

Required documents

  • copy of birth certificate
  • copy of baccalaureate diploma
  • copy of medical certificate class 3
  • 4 bulletin type pictures
  • Optional – copy of diploma / certificate English language minimum level B2 internationally recognized

Course start conditions

  • Compliance with the Performance Framework Indices resulting from passing the Selection Test based on skills
  • B2 English proficiency level recognized by diploma / certificate at international level or equivalent B2 level achievement after testing English language proficiency
  • Class 3 medical certificate

The price for the basic air traffic controller course is 5900 euros.

 

This price does not include the fees for the selection test and the medical examination. This course involves 13 weeks of theory and 10 hours (ie one week) of simulator practice.

 

The subjects studied include: navigation, meteorology, legislation, human factors, equipment and system, air traffic management, professional environment.

 

The simulator will practice the general arrangement of the controls of the control tower and approach techniques and the control of the area to consolidate the theoretical information, but also to be able to select the qualification courses.

In addition to the basic course, we also offer the following qualification courses:

  • ADI (control tower) qualification applicable to control tower stations. This course lasts 9 weeks and involves emergency simulators and other procedures in the control tower.
  • APS (approach surveillance) for those applying to radar units. This course lasts 11 weeks and focuses on studying radar and specific approach techniques and flight control procedures. Emergency situations are also simulated
  • ACS (control of the terminal control area) for students who want to apply to the units receiving the service for the take-off phase of the aircraft. This course lasts 10 weeks and focuses on studying radar and specific approach techniques and flight control procedures. Emergency situations are also simulated

In order to obtain the trainee CTA license, a qualification course is required, after the Basic course. The qualification course will be established later, taking into account the options and competencies of the students.
